 PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 11 Laryngeal cancer surgical margins in eIF4E p53 ras and c-myc expression and prognosis of Authors: Lei Wenbin, Suzhen Zhong Wei-Ping Wen, CHAI Li-ping, JIANG Ai-yun, Liu Bing 【Abstract】 【Objective】 eIF4E, p53, ras and c-myc in laryngeal cancer surgical margins in the expression and prognosis. 【Methods】 42 patients with clinical stage Ⅱ, Ⅲ stage laryngeal carcinoma patients were treated by operation, respectively, a total of laryngeal surgical margin was 112 specimens, using immunohistochemical method to detect cancer primary tumor and the cutting edge of eIF4E, p53, ras and c-myc expression. 【Results】 laryngeal carcinoma eIF4E, p53, ras and c-myc-positive rate was 100% (42/42), 57.1% (24/42), 40.5% (17/42) and 33.3% (14 / 42); surgical margin eIF4E, p53, ras, c-myc, and two or more gene positive rate was 42.8% (18/42), 14.3% (6 / 42), 9.5% (4 / 42), 9.5% (4 / 42) and 21.4% (9 / 42), survival analysis suggests that cutting edge of eIF4E, p53 gene positive group or more than two high recurrence rate, 5-year survival rate is low; COX regression analysis showed that positive surgical margin and prognosis of eIF4E expression related. 【Conclusion】 laryngeal cancer patients with positive surgical margin eIF4E high recurrence rate, poor prognosis. eIF4E in laryngeal cancer surgical margins could be considered as a predictor of the expression of laryngeal independent prognostic indicators of risk.
