 PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 9 Neonatal ventilator-associated pneumonia bacteriology and drug sensitivity analysis [Abstract] Objective: To analyze the neonatal ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) constitute the primary disease, pathogen distribution and drug sensitivity test results. Methods: A retrospective analysis of our hospital from 1998 to 2007 in our hospital 86 cases of neonatal VAP in children with primary disease, endotracheal secretions results of bacterial culture and drug sensitivity. Results: 86 cases of VAP in children with isolated gram-positive cocci 50, gram-negative bacteria 56, fungi 8. Bacterial Multi-pairs of β  lactam antibiotics, generally aminoglycosides, carbapenem and quinolone antibiotic susceptibility. Conclusion: The neonatal VAP is mainly Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, but fungi and Klebsiella pneumoniae infection rates are increasing. Methods: Retrospective analysis was performed on their primary affection and the results of tracheal secretions bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test of 86 cases of newborn children with VAP from 1998 to 2007 in our hospital. Results: There were 50 cases with gram  positive coccobacillus, 56 cases with gram  negative bacillus and 8 cases with mycetes in 86 VAP patients. Most bacteria were resistant to β  lactam antibiotics, but sensitive to aminoglycosides, Carbopenem antibiotics and quinolones antibiotics. Conclusions: Most common bacteria in neonatal VAP were Escherichia coli and staphylococci, but the infection rate of mycetes and Klebsiella pneumoniae were increasing.
