Cotidiano e rela??es de poder numa institui??o de longa permanência para pessoas idosas?* (The power relations in the daily life of the institutions for the elderly) Vicente de Paula Faleiros** Tereza Morano*** Resumo – Este artigo tem como pressuposto que o poder institucional se manifesta no cotidiano dos asilos, cuja denomina??o passou a ser “institui??es de longa permanência”, por meio do controle das rotinas, na ades?o ao ideário proposto, nas rela??es de saber e poder de atores institucionais. O objetivo da pesquisa, realizada numa institui??o de idosos foi o de compreender essas rela??es de poder no cotidiano. O método utilizado foi o da observa??o direta durante dois meses de 2008, implicando registros e entrevistas n?o estruturadas, na forma de conversas. Os resultados mostram que no seu cotidiano as institui??es asilares combinam um ideário humanista filantrópico com um sistema de controle disciplinar e uma adapta??o de medidas a garantias legais de direitos, mas com normas e práticas homogeneizadas que fazem predominar o poder dirigente. Abstract – This article has as a presupposition that the institutional power manifests in the quotidian of the elderly homes of elderly people in the control of routines, in the adhesion of the proposed ideas, in the relation of knowledge and power of the institutional actors. The aim of the research, carried out in an elderly institution, was to understand those power relations in the quotidian.
