Thepresent study examined the mechanismsbywhichBcellsregulatethehostneutrophilicresponseuponexposuretomycobacteriaandhowneutrophilia may influence vaccine efficacy. To address these questions, a murine aerosol infection tuberculosis (TB) model and an intradermal(ID)earBCGimmunizationmousemodel,involvingboththemMTstrainandBcell-depletedC57BL/6mice,were used.IL(interleukin)-17neutralizationandneutrophildepletionexperimentsusingthesesystemsprovideevidencethatB cellscanregulateneutrophiliabymodulatingtheIL-17responseduringM.tuberculosisinfectionandBCGimmunization.
