Abstract: S teel slag is a kind of indu strial w aste slag produced during the process of m e lt ing steel. S tee l
slag w ith h igher b asic ity h as potential hydraulic reactiv ity becau se o f its higher content o f C S and C S.

Therefore it can be used in steel slag cem ent. H ow ever the content o f -CaO in stee l slag increasesw ith
increase of its b asic ity resulting in poor volum e stability. Con sequ ently steel slag needs to be pretreated
to mi prove its vo lum e stability and its act iv ity should be act ivated by m echan ica l or chem ica l m e thods.

as the m otivation of steel slag activ ity w ere discu ssed in deta i.l
