Nationalmalariamanagementpolicyisbasedupontheavailabilityofe?ectiveanda?ordableantimalarialdrugs.Thisstudywas undertakentoevaluatethequalityofthetreatmentofuncomplicatedmalariacasesinBangui,anareawithmultidrug-resistant parasites,atatimeprecedingimplementationofanewtherapeuticpolicyrelyingontheartemisininderivativecombinedtreatment artemether-lumefantrine.Across-sectionalstudywascarriedoutinBanguicitytoassessavailabilityofantimalarialdrugsandthe performancesofhealthworkersinthemanagementofuncomplicatedmalaria.Availabilityofdrugswasrecordedinalldrugs wholesalers(n =3),allpharmaciesinhealthfacilities(n =14),privatedrugstores(n =15),andin60non-o?cialdrugshops randomlychoseninthecity.Despitealimitede?cacyatthetimeofthesurvey,chloroquineremainedwidelyavailableinthe o?cialandnono?cialmarkets.Artemisininderivativesusedinmonotherapyorincombinationwerecommonlysold.Inhealth carefacilities,93%oftheuncomplicatedmalariacasesweretreatedintheabsenceofanylaboratorycon?rmationandtheo?cially recommendedtreatment,amodiaquine-sulfadoxine/pyrimethamine,wass
