Methodology/PrincipalFindings:Atotalof522MSMwereenrolledviaamultiframesamplingapproachandwereaskedto report psychosocial problems, risky sexual behaviors and HIV test results. A count of psychosocial health problems was calculatedtotesttheadditiverelationshipofthesefactorsonHIVrisk.Adjustinganalysisandrestrictionanalysiswereused to determinea proposedintermediate pathway. Psychosocial health problems arehighly concurrent and intercorrelated amongurbanMSM.GreaternumbersofhealthproblemsaresignificantlyandpositivelyassociatedwithHIVinfection,which ismediated,atleastpartially,byriskysexualbehaviors. Conclusions/Significance: MSMexperience concurrent psychosocial health problems that correlate with HIV infectionin thiscommunity.Werecommendthedevelopmentofcopingstrategiesforthispopulationtodealwiththesepsychosocial problems,bothinpreventionresearchandhealthpolicy.
