Methodology/PrincipalFindings:EightdatabasesincludingTheCochraneLibrary(1993–Sept.,2011),PubMed(1980–Sept., 2011),EMbase(1980–Sept.,2011),SCIExpanded(1998–Sept.,2011),ChinaBiomedicineDatabaseDisc(CBMdisc,1978–Sept., 2011),ChinaNationalKnowledgeInfrastructure(CNKI,1979–Sept.,2011),VIP(afulltextissuesdatabaseofChina,1989– Sept.,2011),Wan Fang(anotherfulltextissuesdatabaseofChina1998–Sept., 2011)weresearched systematically.Hand searchforfurtherreferenceswasconducted.LanguagewaslimitedtoChineseandEnglish.Weidentified75RCTsthatused acupunctureasaninterventionandassessedthequalityofthesereportswiththeConsolidatedStandardsforReportingof Trials statement 2010 (CONSORT2010) and Standards for Reporting Interventions Controlled Trials of Acupuncture 2010(STRICTA2010).24articles(32%)appliedthemethodofrandomallocationofsequences.Noarticlegavethedescription ofthemechanismofallocationconcealment,noexperimentappliedthemethodofblinding.Onlyonearticle(1.47%)could beidentifieddirectlyfromitstitleasabouttheRandomizedControlledTrials,andonly4articlesgavedescriptionofthe experimentaldesign.Noarticlementionedthenumberofcaseslostoreliminated.Duringoneexperiment,acupuncture syncopeledtotemporalinterruptionofthetherapy.Twoarticles(2.94%)recordedthenumberofneedles,and8articles (11.76%)mentionedthedepthofneedleinsertion.Noneofarticlesreportedthebaseofcalculationofsamplesize,orhas anyanalysisaboutthemetaphaseofanexperimentoranexplanationofitsinterruptio
