The law of life Jack London Major Plot/Characters Characters Old Koskoosh Koskoosh’s son Sit-cum-to-ha A moose Zing-ha PLOT Winter came. The tribe had to make a long tial to survive, while the protagonist, old Koskoosh,was left alone because of his old age. PLOT Old Koskoosh did not complain, because he understood that spiecies and the race are more important than individuals. A maiden = Sit-cum-to-ha life:beauty- marriage- task- old -die(left alone) PLOT sank into medications and the past,Old Koskoosh recalled the time of his youth: Great Famine 大饥荒 With Zing-ha: a moose fought with a wolf pack. As chief of the tribesmen PLOT Death came. Old Koskoosh tried to fight with the wolf pack first, but at last he decided to accept the death for the law of life. Passive-active-automatic Left alone by no choice think back of his youth and try to fight with the harsh situation: cold and wolf give up and accept the death peacefully : adapt to the law of life Paralle moose = ole man (last para) wolf = harsh circumstance/other man in tribe (Para 17/para 15) intersting evidence: (from my own understand,maybe not right) Para 16 a second stand = old man also fight two things/twice: coldness and wolf) The shaman ...... told him. 巫师会认为这是一种先机 (determinism 宿命论) QA How do you view the tradition of deserting the old by some Indian taking into consideration the harsh circumstancs at the time of the story? on one way...
