Previous isozymestudiesrevealedalowgeneticdiversityincucumber,butdetailedinsightsintothecrop’sgeneticstructureand diversityarelargelymissing.Wehavefingerprinted3,342accessionsfromtheChinese,DutchandU.S.cucumbercollections with23highlypolymorphicSimpleSequenceRepeat(SSR)markersevenlydistributedinthegenome.Thedatarevealthree distinct populations, largely corresponding to three geographic regions. Population 1 corresponds to germplasm from China,exceptfortheuniquesemi-wildlandracesfoundinXishuangbannainSouthwestChinaandEastAsia;population2to Europe,America,andCentralandWestAsia;andpopulation3toIndiaandXishuangbanna.Admixtureswerealsodetected, reflectinghybridizationan
