(Listening and speaking) (1)To master vocabulary of describing abilities, e.g. ride a bike、speak Chinese、drive a car、repair computers (2) —— Can you repair computers? —— Yes, I can. /No, I can’t. 2.Ability aim (1)To enable to understand the conversations about asking and describing abilities. (2)To list their abilities, and ask the classmates’ ability. 3.Emotional aim Learn to appreciate other people and themselves. II.Key points and difficulties To master the vocabulary of describing abilities. (2)The use of modal verbs CAN. 2. Difficulties: Learn to interview classmates and write a report. III.Teaching Procedures Step One: Lead-in 1. Ss listen to an English song in T’s space of the World University City. 2. Show Ss some sentences from the song “I believe I can fly”, and ask students to pay attention to the word ”can” If I can see it, then I can do it If I just believe it Theres nothing to it I believe I can fly I believe I can touch the sky 3. Show Ss a group of short videos and pictures(Jay Chou、 Yao Ming 、Miss He ),and ask Ss to answer the questions: T: Who is he/she? Ss: He’s Jay Chou/ Yao Ming. /She’s Miss He. T: What can he do well? /What can I do well? Ss: He can sing /play basketball well. /You can teach English well. T: Can you guess what he wants /I want to say? Ss: I can sing/play basketball/teach English. Step Two: Vocabulary teaching 1. Show Ss a group of pictures, and ask the Ss to answer the questions: T: What can the boy do in picture 1? Ss: He can ride a bike. T: What can the man do in picture 2? Ss: He can speak Chinese. etc. 2. Show Ss the vocabulary of describing abilities, then ask them to read the vocabulary together. 3. Tell Ss a group competition will be held between them. The first round is: Act and guess. T introduces the rule of Round 1 to Ss: 比赛规则如下:每组选出2名学生,在40秒内由一名学生根据屏幕上的图片模拟动作,另外一名学生用英语表达出来。每说对一个可为本组获得一分。 4. Ask Ss do exercise on page 23: Activity 1, and then
