Porencephalyisararecongenitaldisorderofcentralnervoussysteminvolvingacystoracavityfilledwith cerebrospinalfluid,inbrain’ sparenchyma. Casepresentation:Wepresenta25yearsoldwomanwithherfirstpsychoticepisode.Shealsosuffersfrom porencephalyinthefrontotemporallobesregion.Itisemphasizedthatthetwoconsistentlyabnormalbrain regionsinschizophreniaresearchhadsignificantdamageinthispatientsincebirth.Thereisatotalofonlyfive casesofschizencephalyorporencephalyassociatedwithpsychosisinthescientificliterature.Theirclinical characteristicsaswellastheimagingresultsaredescribed. Conclusion:Itisunclearifporencephalyandpsychosisconcurbychanceorarecausallyrelated.Theareawhere theporencephaliccystsappearseemstobeofrelevance.Thiscasehighlightstheneedforfurtherresearch.
