Methods:Participantscamefromacohortofthefirst600APrONwomen.Supplementalnutrientintakeand symptomsofdepression(measuredwiththeEdinburghPostnatalDepressionScale(EPDS))werecollectedateach trimesterand12weekspostpartum. Results:Ofthe475participantswhocompletedtheEPDSatleasttwiceinpregnancyandat12weekspostpartum, 416(88%)scored10and59(12%)scored≥10,whereanEPDS≥10isconsideredtobe“atleastprobableminor depression”.MeannutrientintakesfromsupplementswerehigherinwomenwithlowerEPDSscores,particularly selenium(p=0.0015)andomega-3s(p=0.01).Bivariateanalysesshowedthatseveraldemographicandsocial/ lifestylevariableswereassociatedwithEPDS≥10:nothavingbeenborninCanada(p=0.01),greaternumberof chronicconditions(p=0.05),greaternumberofstressfullifeeventsduringthispregnancy(p=0.02),andlower prenatalandpostnatalsupport(p=0.0043andp=0.0001,respectively).Adjustingforcovariatesandnutrients knowntobeassociatedwithpostpartumdepression,logisticregressionshowedthathavingaprenatalEPDS≥10 increasedtheoddsofpostpartumdepressivesymptoms(secondandthirdtrimesterOR=3.29,95%CI=1.55- 7.01,p=0.004andOR=4.26,95%CI=2.05-8.85,p0.0001,respectively),whileprenatalsupplementalselenium (per10mcg,OR=0.76,95%CI=0.74-0.78,p=0.001
