Methods:ThisstudywasconductedintheareainandaroundNewYorkCity,NYandincluded1205patients(447 casesand758controls).Casesweredefinedaswomenwithnewlydiagnosedbreastcancerorcarcinomain-situ, whilecontrolsincludedwomenwithbenignbreastdiseasesorthoseundergoingnon-breastrelatedsurgery.All patientswereaskedaseriesofquestionstodeterminetheirpesticideexposure,includingthetypeofpesticide, locationofexposure(insidevs.outsidethehome),whoappliedthepesticide(selfvs.aprofessional)andduration ofpesticideuse.Logisticregressionmodelswereusedtoestimateunadjustedandadjustedoddsratios(OR)and corresponding95%confidenceintervals(CI). Results:Themostcommonpestsencounteredinparticipants’homeswereants,carpenterants,andcockroaches. Thecalculatedadjustedoddsratiosforbothselfandprofessionallyappliedpesticides,specificallyagainstthe abovementionedinsects,withregardtobreastcancerriskwere1.25(95%CI:0.79-1.98)and1.06(95%CI:0.65- 1.73),respectively.Similarly,oddsratiosandconfidenceintervalswerecalculatedforothertypesofpesticides. Conclusions:Overall,theresultsofourstudydidnotshowanassociationbetweenself-reportedexposureto pesticidesandbreastcancerrisk.Futurestudies,utilizingalargersamplesizeandmorespecificdetailontime frameofpesticideexposure,a
