Understanding the cross reactivity and specificitiesofserumantibodyresponsesthatmediatebroadneutralizationofthevirusinHIV-1infectedChinesepatients willprovidevaluableinformationforthedesignofvaccinestopreventHIV-1transmissioninChina.Serafromacohortof homosexualmen,whohavebeenmanagedbyamajorHIVclinicalcenterinBeijing,China,wereanalyzedforcross-sectional neutralizing activities against pseudotyped viruses expressing Env antigens of the major subtype viruses (AE, BC and B subtypes)circulatinginChina.Neutralizingactivitiesininfectedpatients’bloodweremostcapableofneutralizingvirusesin the homologous subtype; however, a subset of blood samples was able to achieve broad neutralizing activities across differentsubtypes.Suchcrossneutralizingactivitytook1–2yearstodevelopandCD4bindingsiteantibodieswerecritical componentsinthesebloodsamples.OurstudyconfirmedthepresenceofbroadlyneutralizingserainChina’sHIV
