湖州市地处浙江省北部，东邻上海，南接杭州，西依天目山，北濒太湖，与无锡、苏州隔湖相望，是环太湖地区唯一因湖而得名的城市。 Situated/Located in Northern Zhejiang Province, Huzhou is adjacent to Shanghai in the east and Hangzhou in the south, neighbouring Tianmu Mountain to the west, Tai Lake to the North, and facing Wuxi and Suzhou across the Lake.
