Abstract
Background:Thisreportpresentsadetaileddescriptionofhepaticarchitecturein46amphibianliversbylight
microscopy,andextensivelydiscussesthephylogeneticviewpoint.
Results:The46amphibianliversshowedavarietyofhistologicalfeatures,butanuranswerethesameasin
mammalianlivers.Thehepatocyte-sinusoidalstructuresoftheamphibianliverswereclassifiedintothreedifferent
types:(I)several-cell-thickplatetype,(II)two-c
