Abstract
Background:Bloodsamplingthroughheellancingisthemostcommoninvasivepainfulprocedureperformedon
newborninfants.
CasePresentation:Wereportthecaseofafivedayoldinfantwhosustainedburnstotheleftfootandlegafter
themother’shairdryerwasusedbythemidwifetowarmthebaby’sheelpriortocapillarybloodsampling(CBS)
withanautomateddevice.
Conclusion:HeelwarmingisnotrecommendedforroutineCBSalthoughitisoftenpra
