In its development process, film studies had not only connected with sociology, history and psychology, but also interacted with aesthetics and other branches of art. Since 1950s, along with the extension of interdisciplinary research, film studies had built closer relationship with other subjects and developed some new subdisciplines, such as film aesthetics, philosophy of film, poetics of cinema, sociology of film and film semiotics.
