Methods:Asearchusingthetermsintelligencequotient,IQ,intelligence,cognition,eatingdisordersandanorexia wasconductedinelectronicdatabasesonly. Results:Inall,30peer-reviewedstudieswritteninEnglishthatusedwellestablishedmeasuresofintelligence quotient(theNationalAdultReadingTestandWechslerIntelligenceScales)wereidentified.Thisreviewestablished thatpeoplewithanorexianervosascore10.8unitsand5.9unitsabovetheaverageintelligencequotientofthe normativepopulationontheNationalAdultReadingTestandWechslerIntelligenceScales,respectively.An associationwasfoundbetweenBodyMassIndexandintelligencequotient,asmeasuredbytheNationalAdult ReadingTest. Conclusions:Morestudiesincludingothereatingdisordercategoriesandrecoveredpeopleareneededtoexplore importantquestionsregardingtheroleoftheintelligencequotientintreatmentresponse.
