Inourstudy,weexaminedtheassociationofcox-2andp53expression,withage,stage,histopathologicalsubtype, andsurvivalinHL.Wealsoexaminedcorrelationbetweencox-2andp53expression. Methods:Cox-2andp53expressionsinHodgkin-ReedSternbergcells(HRS)wereexaminedin54patientswithHL dependingoncox-2expression,stainedcaseswereclassifiedaspositive,andunstainedcasesasnegative.Nuclear stainingofHRScellswithp53wasevaluatedaspositive.Theclassificationsofpositivitywereasfollows:negative if10%;(1+)if10-25%;(2+)if25-50%;(3+)if50-75%,(4+)if75%. Results:Cox-2andp53expressionswerefoundin49(80%)and29(46%)patients,respectively.Therewere differencesbetweenhistologicalsubtypesaccordingtocox-2expression(p=0.012).Mixedcellular(MC)and nodularsclerosing(NS)subtypeswereseenmostofthepatientsandcox-2expressionwasevaluatedmostlyinthe mixedcellularsubtype. Therewerenostatisticallysignificantrelationshipsbetweenp53andthehistopathologicalsubtypes;orbetween p53,cox-2andthefactorsincludingstage,ageandsurvival;orbetweenp53andcox-2expression(p0.05). Conclusion:Consideringthesignificantrelationshipbetweenthecox-2expressionandthesubtypesofHL,cox-2 expressionishigherinMCandNSsubtypes.Howeverthedifferencebetweenthesetwosubtypeswasnot significant.Thissubmissionmustbeadvocatedb
