Performance Better Handling and Stability As seen on high performance cars 2. Appearance Appealing to the consumer as a custom upgrade As seen on luxury vehicles and SUVs However, there is a performance trade off… Background For performance For appearance Presentation Title and Agenda Using lower profile tyres has the following disadvantages: 1. Ride Comfort Harsher ride More road noise 2. Decreased Load Carrying Capacity 3. Road Hazard Durability More prone to impact damage (i.e. potholes) The HALP concept was invented for the SUV or luxury vehicle owner who wants a low profile appearance without the sacrifice in ride comfort. Background Low profile tyres have serious disadvanges for a vehicle like this Ford F150. These disadvantages are acceptable for a high performance vehicle. However, they are less acceptable for SUV and luxury vehicle owners. Presentation Title and Agenda Concept Description Ride comfort of a high aspect ratio tyre Load capacity of a high aspect ratio tyre Handling of a low profile tyre Appearance of a low profile tyre HALP = Presentation Title and Agenda Concept Description HALP Concept Conventional Rim and Tyre Presentation Title and Agenda Concept Description Gap between tyre and flange extension permits vertical tyre deflection (for ride comfort). The flange extension increases the perceived diameter of the rim for a low profile appearance. It also restricts lateral displacement of the tyre (for improved limit handling). The tyre is mostly conventional but has a raised rim protector and increased area of flange rubber. Tyre volume is maintained for improved load capacity over a low profile tyre. Presen
