METHODS Compar吻 the frequency , coverage and utilization of surgeries in 49 township hospitals between 2∞o and 2ω8. RESULTS The coverage of su哺cal items w凶 stable in general but declined a little. Various tendencies were found in ar哩aswi由 different levels of economic development. Surgeries asωcìated with family planning and acute 叩叩toms were common in all township hoψitals. CONCLUSION The developments of the surgery department in township hospitals must be ba阴d on the demand of the residents covered, and avoid any potential unnecessary expenditure due to unwise equipment pu町hase.
