Abstract: Advances in the researches of physiological and biochemical indices of salt tolerance were review,
such as photosynthesis, chlorophyll content, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, organic osmotica, min
eral element, membrane permeability, MDA content, antioxidant enzymes, antioxidants and ABA and so
on. T hree methods using such indices to scan salt tolerant plants were summarized: direct method, the
physiological biochemistry index method, and the integrated method. T he significance of standardizing the
system in the assessment of salt tolerant plants was discussed.
