The species of the genus are characterized by crustose thalli, elongate and wirelike ascocarps, hymenial ascomata, from immersed to sessile; hymenium with single parallel parphyses; the ascospores with transverse or muriform septa, I+ blue to violet. The present studies of Graphis are performed using the methods of morphology, anatomy, chemistry on the basis of identification of about 400 specimens from mountains Jianfeng, Bawang and Wuzhishan, from Hainan Province, China. Forty-five species are reported, in which one species Graphis subdisserpens is new to Hainan. A key of the genus and photographs of each thallus are present in the thesis. All the specimens examined by the author are deposited in the following herbaria: HMAS-L and LCU-L. The data and information gained from this study should be helpful to the further systematic
