Blood sugar
Normal blood sugar is stable, fasting blood sugar is 3.9 ~ 6.1 mmol/L, the blood sugar is less than 7.8 mmol/L in 2 hours, and the average person will not exceed 7.8 mmol/L at any time.
More than (including) fasting glucose tendency for 7.0 L and/or blood sugar 2 hours after meal more than (including) tendency for 11.1 / L, or any time of the blood sugar more than (including) tendency for 11.1 / L, which meet the diagnostic criteria for diabetes.
More than the normal blood sugar levels, but does not meet the diagnostic criteria of diabetes, we call it the sugar dysregulation (IGR. Also some people called pre-diabetes), including three conditions: (1) simple impaired fasting glucose (IFG) : 5.6 tendency/L fasting glucose or less tendency for 7.0 L, 2 hours postprandial blood glucose 7.8 tendency for L; Reduced sugar tolerance (IGT) : 7.8 mmol/L is less than 2 hours after meals and the blood sugar is 11.1 mmol/L; (1)
We have now realized that just fasting glucose tests can detect 9.9% of sugar metabolisms. An oral glucose tolerance test (75 grams of no water glucose, 2 hours of blood sugar) was found, and 64.2 percent of sugar metabolites were found. This means that the fasting glucose is not high, and 84.5% of the sugar tolerance is missed if it is not tested for sugar tolerance. So, for fasting blood sugar more than 5.6 mmol/L, we generally recommend that you check your blood sugar again.
Fasting glucose tests are convenient, but they are volatile and repetitive. 2 hours after meal the blood sugar is repeatable, but the test is not very convenient.
In addition, here said the glycemic index of venous blood glucose testing index, our own at home with glucose meter check endings (i.e., prick the hand fingers) have differences with the index, blood sugar can be used as a diabetic condition monitoring of blood sugar control, but not as an index of the diagnosis of diabetes.
