T he optical active 2 chloropropionic acid which has the high physiological activity or the pharmacologi cal action is an important constituent of herbicides, and can be used in producing ibuprofen, the medicine intermediate 2 alanine, methyl chloropropionate as intermediates of agricultural chemi cals, ethyl chloropropionate and the preliminary alcohol ester. It may also be used in producing lactic acid. The state of art of the recent chiral resolution research of 2 chloropropionic acid and ester was reviewed. Different techniques including the methods of chemistry, biological enzyme, chromatogram and extraction are summarized in detail.
