Functions of react ion time and background luminance and the dependence of reaction time with background luminance, target contrast, and eccentricity w ere acquired. The results indicated that the reaction t ime is shorter under high color temperature compact fluorescent lamp than under low color temperature compact fluorescent lamp in the researched background luminance range. The research results provide evidence of reaction time influenced by lighting source color temperature, and form the basis of establishing tunnel lighting design standard and road lighting design standard .
