Analysis of Steven Holl’s Architecture
Based on Time Dimension
ABSTRACT
As an index of time, architecture provides the multiple
interpretations of time. Thinking and exploring of Henri
Bergson’s “duration” and “lived time”, Steven Holl brings
the experiential, relativistic and poetic durations into his
creations. By analyzing the site time, cosmic time and
philosophic time presented in Holl’s works, this paper
reveals that architecture joins dif erent times to the same
place, and multiple ways in which time can be measured
may i nd a unii ed, spatial resolution.
