In this paper , ontrolled rea tor is onsidered to solve the problems. The prin iple and hara teris- ti s of ont rolled rea tor are analyzed. UHV ontrolled rea t or stru ture w ith low harmoni is proposed for the ap- pli ation, whi h does not result in inter-phase ele tromagneti oupling . Numeri al simulation has been performed to al ulate the voltage regulation of the netw ork using onventional and t he proposed ont rolled rea tor , respe tively. St udy has show that the re ommended ontrolled rea tor, toget her with sw it hing resistor, an effe tively suppres- ses swit hing overvoltage to a value below 1. 25p. u, Meanw hile, ontrolled rea tor has superior voltage regulation and rea tive power ompensation apabilit y.
