It is generalized the result that for a maximal collection A of pairwise disjoint nOI卜parallel essential annuli ín a handlebody of genus g (到) , 2 延 IAI 运4g -5 , and the bounds 缸e sha甲. It is shown that for a maximal collection ~，g of pairwise disjoint non-parallel es- sentíal non叩anníng annuli in a nontrivial compression body C , IA I~4h - b, where h is the total num- ber of l-handles attached ωobtain C , and b is the number of components of ð _ C , and the bound is sharp.
