Unit9 College Success Made Easy 学业成功,举手之劳 * A professor might have a hundred or more students in a class, or as few as three. Whatever the number, there‘s usually one student from the group that stands out(突出) as being special, fantastic even. No matter how difficult a professor’s question, that one special student seems to know the answer. And no matter when a paper must be given to the teacher, that one special student is able to turn in (把…交给)his assignment on time and without a single error whatsoever. 1.fantastic 极好的;极出色的 ? e.g.---Shes a fantastic swimmer. ---?You look fantastic! 你的气色好极了! ? 2. error n. 错误 e.g.---The letter contains a number of typing errors, which I must correct. 信中有很多打字错误,我得改一下。 3. whatsoever adv.任何;丝毫 e.g.---He has no respect whatsoever for authority. 他一点也不尊崇权威。 Why cant I be more like this devil? Why cant I be the special one? you might ask yourself. Well, Im here to tell you that it can be you. 4. devil n. 家伙;人 (用以加强语气) e.g.---The little devils broke my window with their ball. 这些小家伙用球砸碎了我的窗户。 The first tip(建议) is: don‘t get behind. (不要耽搁). Little room is given to students that are not able to manage their work and time. (处理不好学习和时间问题的学生是难以有机会出头的。 ) 句型提炼:Little/Much room/hope/chance/… is given/granted/ left to sb. that… ······样的人是难以有/有很大的机会 /机遇 /希望······的。 用于强调“对人或事在特定情况下的后果判定”。 那些总抱着侥幸心理的人是难以获得大的成功的。 trust in luck / little chance of great success ---Little chance of great success is given to those who always trust in luck. Doing fun work may feel like you‘re granting yourself a present after doing hard work. This is the second tip. 5. grant v. 给予 ?e.g.---She granted their request. 她答应了他们的请求。 n. 资助;拨款 e.g.---You can get a grant to repair your house. 完成困难的任务后再做有趣的任务会让人觉得这是对自己的犒劳。 Doing fun work may feel like you’re granting yourself a present after doing hard work. 句型提炼: Doing sth. feels like sb. is doing sth. 做某事会让人觉得这是在······ 用于表述“某人做事的感受”。 The third tip
