This paper applies the functional translation theory to analyze the C-E translation of tourist materials. First, this paper briefly introduces functional translation theory and features of tourism translation, and the feasibility of the C-E tourism translation will be proved under the guidance of functional translation theory. Moreover, the first part introduces the theoretical framework, details of the functionalist definition, origin, development. The second part includes the literature review, the definition and functions of tourism translation. And then the third part illustrates the principles and purposes of tourism translation. The fourth part is a combination of functional translation theory to analyze tourism translation, according to the functionalist principles and combined with case studies. Translation strategies such as amplification, omission, repetition and literal translation all are applied to tourism translation, which achieves satisfactory results. Finally, this paper points out that taking some tourism strategies and skills can further improve the quality of Chinese tourism translation and promote further development of Chinas tourism industry.
