Acknowledgements
First of all, I am heartedly grateful to my supervisor Professor Hua Quankun for
his generosity in initiating me into the field of Shakespearean studies, for his
unremitting encouragement in my three years of postgraduate studies, and for his
scholastic guidance in the process of writing this thesis whenever my thought was
blocked. Also, his personal integrity and impressive academic competence would be
the paradigm after which I model since he never grudges sparing time for
proofreading my manuscript and navigating me through all the barriers in the course
of Shakespearean studies.
My sincere appreciation also goes to Professor Chen Zhengfa, Professor Hong
Zengliu, Professor Chen Bing, Professor Zhou Fangzhu, Dr.Qi Tao, Professor Zhu
Yue, from whose lectures, courses, and suggestions I have derived much inspiration.
Likewise, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the faculty of the
School of Foreign Studies as well as my classmates for their considerable help.
Last but not least, I will express my infinite thanks to my beloved parents and my
younger brother, whose encouragement and love keep nourishing me through my
growth.
