7BUnit4 Amazing things Reading(1) 常州市翠竹中学 陈甫英 -.教学目标: 1.To get the important information from the article. 2.To learn to retell the story with the help of questions 3.To learn something about the simple past tense. 二.教学重难点: 1. To infer meaning from keywords and context. 2. To learn to retell the story with the help of questions 三.教学方法: 情景教学法、合作讨论法、课堂问答法和启发式。 四.教学手段-slide show some pictures 五.教学过程: Process1: Revision Get the Ss to give some examples. Talk about some unusual animals they know(fish, elephant…..) Show Ss six pictures and ask them describe. Process2 : Lead in Tell them a story about ghost Process3: Presentation 1. Students often like ghost stories. Some even like making up ghost stories. It is not uncommon that places are rumored to be haunted as a result. Ask students whether, they have heard about ghost stories in their hometown. 2. Encourage students to consider some key points before they start reading. Make them curious about how the ghost comes into the story. 3 Explain the context. Ask students to read the story on their own. 4. Check understanding. Ask WH-questions? e.g. Why were Millie and Amy frightened? They thought they heard a ghost.) What did Andy find in the park? (A cat.) Where did they take the catty (7b the animal center.)? Divide the class into pairs or groups of four. Ask students to make a storyboard. Encourage students to draw pictures to represent the different parts of the story 5. Share the pictures with other students in the class. Ask students to make a list of Andy’s sequence of steps to find the “ghost” e.g. -he went to the big tree -He heard a whisper from the bushes -He searched -He found a little cat - It made a whisper -He put the little cat into a box -he showed the little cat to Millie and Amy - They took the little cat tithe animal center Process4: Practice 1. Ask students to do Part B1 on their own. 2. Ask six students to read one sentence each. Check the answers with the class. 3. Ask stu
