This paper expounds the various viewpoints of language input theory in second language acquisition, and analyzes the role that language input theory plays in second language acquisition. This paper analyzes the characteristics of language input theory, language input and the empirical research on listening, speaking, reading and writing, and puts forward the future research direction.
