Development situation
The F107 / F112 is the small turbine fan engine developed by American Williams international for cruise missiles. It was developed by the WR19 engine. WR19 is a variant of the WR2 engine core machine. The first of the WR19 engines was first tested in 1967. A $1.4 million contract was accepted by the U.S. air force in the early 1970s to further develop the engine. The engine soon made a test flight on the prototype. A competitive experiment was conducted from the end of 1972 to early 1973, and Williams won. Then cruise missile project was cancelled, therefore, the research work of the engine has aside, until the United States in February 1974, officially announced the development of cruise missiles, WR19 series just back to the development of the work, and to develop a military-like F107. In October 1975, the F107 flight test began, the January 1976 trial was completed, and in September 1976 the test was set up and formally put into production.
