General situation of Yichang Changjiang tunneling project Yichang Changjiang tunnel is one of Zhong-Wu gas pipeline control projects, located within Yichang City Honghuatao- Yunchi River section, and 4Km away from Honghuatao Town. The tunnel is 1400m long, with internal diameter Φ 2440mm. Project including: launch shaft, arrival shaft construction; 1400 annulus (6 pieces every annulus); Shield tunnel 1400m. Main geologic features of the tunnel: 0-900m mainly for clay siltstone; 900-1400m mainly for high permeability pebble bed. Geologic description see fig. 1. Fig. 1: Geologic description of Yichang Changjiang tunneling project 2. Silo construction technology Silo project includes launch shaft, arrival shaft and other ancillary silo works. Silo consists of surface casing shaft and drop shaft, surface casing shaft is 7.06m deep, outside diameter 11.5m, internal diameter 10.3m; drop shaft is outside diameter 8.7m, internal diameter 7.5m; launch shaft is 48.4m deep and arrival shaft is 22.4m deep. According to geologic condition, launch shaft adopts drop shaft and drilling process; Arrival shaft adopts drop shaft process.
