Lead in Pre -reading Invites Ss. to talk about if they have been in an art exhibition and what they think of it? Show Ss. some pictures, invites Ss. to talk about which kind of Chinese art do you like? Step III. Fast-reading 1. Listen to the tape and answer the following questions: 1.) What is Xu Beihong’s masterpiece(名作)? 2.) Who held exhibitions abroad to promote art? 3.) Who is good at drawing simple pictures from everyday life? 4.) Who is famous for drawing pretty women? 5.) Why did Chen Yifei use black as the background of Poppy? 2. Read the texts and complete the notes. Step IV. Careful- reading 1. Read the text carefully and introduce the painters. 2. Description 1. Learn to describe the paintings: show some pictures and introduce some key elements of painting and use these topic words to describe different paintings: a. How are they different in color? b. How are they different in style? c. How are they different in subject matter? 2. How to describe a painting? Gave them examples and do some practice. Step VII.
