Younger school children(Ages 5-10)should be required to study art and music in addition to math,language,science and history. Music and art exists all around the world in thousands of forms. They are permanent themes of people in different cultures,skins and ages. When it comes to the consideration of required curricula for younger school children,many claim that art and music should be required to study like math,language and science,which I cannot agree with more. In the first place, studying art and music makes younger children more diverse and thoughtful. From primitive humankind to modern urban citizens,and from Tibet to New York city,there is no civilization without some forms of art and music. Art and music allows children to perceive the world through different perspectives,which maybe arouse their interests to other cultures as well as different kinds of lifestyles. Some subjects such as math,science and history are beneficial to children’s intelligence. However,art and music promotes children’s emotional quotient. Studying music and art make it possible for children to understand and tolerate others who live in a world different from them. Studying art and music gives children a porthole to peer into areas of a variety of cultures and points of view,that one would not readily have access to. Furthermore,studying music and art plays an important role in expressing children’s emotions and relaxing themselves. Art and music are the very best method to expressing feelings. There is music that people listen to when they are upset,when they are cheerful,when they are irritated,etc. In ancient times,majority of people who felt confused toward politics turned to painting or classical music,which could voice their difficulties in their lives. The same goes on children’s lives. Even though the younger children are still in elementary schools,they have troubles and puzzles,and this requires an appropriate way to express their emotions.
