Transaction Efficiency: A New Perspective to Measure Transaction Costs

Abstract: Transaction cost economics has made much progress in recent years. However,
there is a few literature that directly measures TC. This paper specifies the feasibility of using
transaction efficiency to analyze TC and directly measures the average transaction efficiency
between 1997 and 2002 in China, via the help of latest literatures and the econometric method for
factor analysis, then runs a rudimentary test of its relation with economic development. The result
shows that it is useful both for TC theory and China’s reality.
