Now lets think about the roles, or people aspects for a moment. The framework document identifies 4 key roles which are defined on the following slides. GDPIM has essentially two fundamental components: the steps we need to take to introduce a new product; and the co-ordination or management of these activities. This component is program management. How many times have we seen these characteristics ? ……. The vision is that we start with an identified opportunity (light bulb), compare this opportunity with the product strategy and other opportunities to ensure there are no show-stoppers and then categorise the project. The kick-off work session is when the team get together and develop the detailed project definition - who, what when etc There will be a project manager and resource management will be used to effectively use our people. Cross functional teamwork is key to success. Risk management techniques are used in the planning activities to avoid or mitigate potential risks. Contingency plans / activities should be considered. Every project should have a project plan with assigned resources - a timeline without resources is a picture - a wish list. During project execution we do the total quality “plan, do, check, act”, we monitor the MOPs and produce regular reports (e.g. monthly report), maintain an open issues log and issue CIA (critical issue alerts) as required. Regular reviews are held as described in the framework document.
