This summer is special. Just about the beginning of this July, many cities in China broke its records of electricity consumption. Floods roared against the horrified rage and resignation of Southern China. News of scorching north hemisphere travels everywhere. What on earth happened to our environment? 今年夏天不寻常。在中国许多城市，从六月份开 始就已经打破了往年的用电记录。中国南部洪水肆虐 刚刚消退，北半球的森林大火新闻沸沸扬扬。我们的 环境到底怎么了？ what can I do? The deterioration of climatic and ecological environ ments has been an indisputable fact. That is why nearly all the nations on this tiny planet have to cooperate and work to better the situation. 气候和生态环境的恶化已经成为不争的事实。 这就是为什么地球上几乎所有的国家都联合起来去改善环境。 what can I do? Governments have begun their efforts of saving energy and reducing emissions. Butwhat can you and I do for this very end personally? Saving Energy and reducing emissions as well as protecting environment is not only a matter of government, individuals’ contribution matters significantly I appreciate the remarks by American president Kennedy in his inaugural address, “ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” 各国政府已经在节能减排方面开始努力，而我们个人又 能做些什么呢？节约能源、减少排放以及保护环境不单单是 政府的事情，个人贡献也有着显著的作用。我非常欣赏美国 总统就职演说上的一句话：不要问你的国家能为你做什么， 而要问你能为你的国家做些什么？ what can I do? Let us spare no personal courage to save other people and ourselves. I believe that might force come from right spirit and that attitude is everything. When we understand the direction and value of our heart, success is not far away.
