According to the references, th is review essay summarizes its mecha- nism, characteristics and typical forms. The research and application p rogress on treatment efficiency, startup, backw ash and media of biological aerated filter are discussed, its advantages and disadvantages are also ana- lyzed. Based on further studies on mechanism analysis and optmi ization technology, the biological aerated filter system is mi proved, its application is also developed. F inally, the app lication foreground of biological aerated fi-l ter to w astew ater treatm ent is pointed out.
