And he saved Charles when Charles was accused of treason. To fulfill his promise to Lucie, at the end of the novel he redeemed his own life to save the life of Charles’. Lucies father. He was a doctor and was kept in a prisoner in the Bastille for eighteen years. When Charles’ uncle killed two people, he was asked to have a look at them. He saw those two people died, so he hated Charles’ family very much. A vengeful female revolutionary. She led the French Revoluntion in Paris. Her pregnant sister was killed by Charles’ uncle, so she put Charles into the prison when he went to Paris. The year was late 1775, Lucie Manette, a 17-year-old lady, and a rich banker Jarvis Lorry traveled from London to Paris to find Lucie’s father Doctor Alexandre Manette, who had been put into the prison for 18 years.?Mr. Lorry and Lucie found
