The effect of calcin ing temperature on the structures characteristic of the synthesized mesoporous ZnO w as investigated, and the possible mechanism of pore formation w as proposed. The resu lts show ed that as the calcin ing temperature is higher, the pore of the as-preparedZnO is bigger, and the specific surface area is sm aller. The specific surface area, pore volum e and pore size 2 3 distribution of the synthesizedmesoporous zinc oxide calcined at 00 e are 11. 013m /g, 0. 13 cm /g and 40. 2 nm, respectively.
