Comparison of severe accident mitigation
measures between EPR and CPR1000

Abstract:Severe accident mitigation measures of EPR are introduced, and compared w ith
those of CPR 1000, including severe accident dedicated depressurization valves, incon
tainment refueling w ater storage tank ( IRWST) , combustible gas control system, core
melt stabilization and cooling system, containment heat removal system, double con
tainment, dedicated instrumentation and controls, severe accident uninterruptible pow er
supply system, operating strategies for severe accident and so on. Improvements of
CPR 1000 severe accident mitigation measures are proposed.
