Abstract: iang Qichao was a well- know n thinker and educationist in modern t imes. He initiated teacher edu
cation and advocated training new - type teachers inst ead of traditional ones. Specifically he put forward a
teachers abilities and qualities in organizing teaching, selecting t he teaching content and adopting cert ain teach
ing methods, according to goals of a new educational system, stipulat ions of knowledge curriculum and
students characteristics. T hese deep insights of t eacher not only have an educational and academic value, but
also are beneficial to contemporary developments of teacher education.
