The Five Sacred Mountains of China Domination of the Five Sacred Mountains -----Mount Tai Mount Tai is located in Taian of Shandong province. It is 1532 meters . It enjoys five mountains, the first mountain Mount Tai was included as World Cultural and Natural Heritage by UNESCO in Dec 1987. Mount Tai , a typical representative of the Chinese famous traditional mountains, is a mountain with a long history and a special historic status. The Sunrise Mount Heng is located in Hunyuan County, City of Datong Shanxi.Traditionally called the “North Mountain, it has an elevation about 2017 meters. The Hanging Temple is a temple built into a sheer cliff above Jinlong Canyon, near Mount Heng. Why build a temple like this?
