What do you want to be in the future ? Listen to the tape with the following questions: 1.What are Li Ming and Wang Mei talking about? They are talking about the future. 2. What is Li Ming good at? Li Ming is good at talking to people. 3. What does Li Ming hope to do ?Why? He hopes to be a teacher.Because he is good at talking . 4. What does Wang Mei hope to be in the future ?Why? She hopes to be a doctor.Because she would help sick children. 1. It’s hard sometimes to talk about the future. It’s + adj./n. + to do sth. 做某事是……的。 eg. It’s not easy to become a scientist. 2. I have no idea. 相当于I don’t know. 意为“我不知道。” Language Points 3.Maybe you will be a teacher. maybe 是副词,意为“或许,可能”,在句中作状语,常放在句首;may be 意为“可能是”,是情态动词may与be连用的句式。 eg.You ________ a teacher in the future. may be 4.I hope to be a teacher. hope to do sth. 希望…… 或者 hope +从句 hope sb.to do( ×) eg. I hope I will do well in this middle exam. 5.I wouldnt give them too much homework on weekends. too much这里起形容词作用,后加不可数名词,“太多” too many修饰可数名词;much too 意为“太,很”,相当于very,起副词作用,修饰后面的形容词或副词,但many too(×)。 eg.There is _________ ice on the road. This bicycle is __________expensive. too much much too 6.You might be a scientist when you grow up. might是情态动词,是may的过去式,表推测时可能性比may小。 eg.He might come this evening,but Im not sure. 7.Im not sure I can be a scientist. be sure + that 从句,“认为……一定……” eg.Danny is sure that he will win the game. 8. I would help sick children. ill “有病的” ,通常作表语 sick “有病的” , 既可作表语又可作定语。 His father is ill/sick in bed.
